Avoid The Business Trap & Business Burnout

My definition of a successful business is a commercial profitable enterprise that can work without you.

What I have seen over the many years of working with business owners just like you is that experiencing significant growth in our business can be both a tremendous blessing and a horrible curse.

If we've not set our business up properly to scale up, we've actually created unseen bottlenecks that slow a business down. We, the business owner, end up being the one that takes on that additional burden.

We quickly find ourselves working 70, 80, and sometimes 90+ hours a week, trying to juggle all the balls of that incremental business.  Ultimately, not being able to keep all the balls in the air and now when they drop, customer service suffers.

Over time we start to lose customers because they're not getting the service that they are accustomed to and expect. This makes us work harder having to deal with customer service issues and now we have to spend more time selling to make up for the customers we lost. Eventually, this leads to owner burnout.

Burnout is the number one reason that businesses eventually fail.  The business owner is just tired of dealing with the same problems day in and day out.  As soon as you put out one fire another pops up and another.

I'm here to tell you that there's hope!  The good news is that there is a solution, we can be proactive and set up systems that allow the organization to run more efficiently and effectively, and be able to scale with the increasing demands as the business grows.

You see as the business grows, the systems and processes you have in place need to be upgraded to leverage more.  This includes systems to attract and retain exceptional employees who are willing to take on more and grow and develop within our organization.

Therefore we can take the responsibilities off of our plate and put them on theirs, thus freeing us up to be a true CEO, the captain of the ship.  The Captain of the ship is not in the engine room making the ship go, they are on the bridge, charting the course, looking for potential obstacles, and leading the crew.  You can't lead when you're down below and see what's going on.

Now we're running a business that is able to work without us. Then our focus becomes strategic, focusing on the direction of the organization and taking care of the team. When we take care of the team, the team takes care of the rest of the organization. That's a key point to remember.  You don't build your business your team does.

So if this is something that you're interested in learning more about, schedule a free strategy session with me and we'll take a closer look at how to apply this strategy in your business and you'll discover the power of coaching.

Engagement is the Way to Win in Business

Small and medium-sized businesses are the life-blood of our economy, but they face specific, ever-increasing challenges. The world is in the midst of an employee engagement crisis, with serious and potentially lasting repercussions for the global economy. Without a doubt, one of the greatest challenges SME’s currently face is the attraction and retention of talent. Intelligent, honest, hardworking staff are critical to an organization’s ongoing success, but now more than ever, good people are hard to find – and they are even harder to hold on to! To ensure employee job fulfillment, loyalty and maximum ROI, the key ingredient that is so often missing is Engagement. In a recent Gallup poll, it was revealed that only 13% of the world’s employees are engaged at work, and most disengaged employees would change employers right now for as little as a 5% pay increase.

6 Keys To Improve Your Marketing Success

What is the true test of marketing success? I call it testing and measuring. Most people hate it that’s because there’s a chance, however remote, that every marketing strategy that you're going to try will not work the first time you try it. In other words, it's possible that you could be spending money without seeing any returns, and that sucks. No one wants that. But consider this: you’ve probably been testing and measuring all your business life. Remember that old newspaper ad that you tried and it didn't work or radio spots, maybe, that did okay, and you weren't even sure if they worked or not. Well, that's what testing is. Testing what works and what doesn't. The next step is really to do it properly; to do it with the proper intention. In this business tip, you will learn 6 steps on how to successfully determine what works and what doesn't. Start by asking people where they heard about you. Start right now. Do it immediately! If there's one thing t

Fire Yourself From Your Business

If you want to grow your business, there's one person you need to fire right now. This person is holding you back from scaling up your business to the next level. So who am I talking about? You probably guessed it. Yup, I'm talking about you - the Business Owner. Just think about it for a minute. You probably have so much on your plate that you can't do everything well. In this business tip, I'm going to share a strategy to help you fire yourself from the things that you don't want to do or really shouldn't be doing. What I'm saying is, fire yourself from the non-strategic elements of your business. What I've seen is that the business owners and particularly, maybe founders of the company, they're still hanging on to some of the tasks that they used to do when they started their business. Well, whether it’s sales or some level of service delivery. This is something that they've always done. They’re probably good at it or they really enjoy doing
